January 2007 - A First Course in Atmospheric Radiation has been selected by CHOICE Magazine for their Outstanding Academic Title list for 2006.
February 2006 - Our PHYSUNITS package has been updated ... see here for details.
February 2006 - The second edition of A First Course in Atmospheric Radiation has been completed and will be back from the printer in mid-March.
January 2004 - My new textbook A First Course in Atmospheric Radiation is in press and will be available shortly. Click on the above link to find out more.
April 2002 - My manuscript on solar radiative transfer in inhomogeneous clouds has been accepted in final form for JAS. It describes what I believe to be a novel, yet effective new approach to modeling area-averaged fluxes. The manuscript can be gotten in preprint form here.
July 15, 2001 - Two papers have been accepted for publication in J. Appl. Meteor. The first describes empirical multichannel microwave signatures of heavy tropical rainfall. The second describes a new parametric 1-D model for stratiform rainclouds, specifically intended for use in microwave radiative transfer modeling.
April 13, 2001 - My paper on automated computation and consistency checking of physical dimensions and units in scientific programs has been accepted in the journal Software - Practice and Experience . I invite others to take a look at the concept and tell me what they think!
